1990 Royal Rumble Match
This is the only Rumble in which the incumbent Federation champion won the match. And given the soon-to-follow tradition of the Rumble winner getting a heavyweight title shot, this record will more than likely stand forever.
This Royal Rumble is one of the best-booked ever, setting up all the big feuds for WrestleMania. My biggest takeaway from this one is the hot crowd. Listen to them when Rowdy Roddy Piper hits the ring and it becomes two red-hot babyfaces vs. two red-hot heels. Even The Red Rooster got a big pop for his entrance. Maybe it's Florida's proximity to the Mid-Atlantic and Mid-South territories, where Terry Taylor had been a top star (and deservedly so).
